Chapter Summary - Chapter 2
- Katniss is worried about President Snow being in her house.
He tells her - due to the berries that saved her and Peeta’s life - it gives the districts hope. He tells her due to her act in the arena it looks like she wanted to start a rebellion.
President Snow tells her, she should stop giving the districts hope to be able to defy the capitol. If she wouldn’t, her family and Gale’s family would be in a lot of danger!
- He tells her due to the act in the arena, things became worse. The old Gamemaker had to be executed because he saved her and Peeta’s life.
President Snow also points out that not all the districts believed the act of love going on between Peeta and Katniss; in and outside of the arena.
- President Snow, pretends to care about his country, but Katniss knows that President Snow tries to manipulate her.
- He also points out that she is a big danger for the capitol and the country.
- Katniss responds with a question why he doesn’t kill her straight away. He tells her that things would only get a lot more worse.
President Snow knows that Katniss just tricked the capitol with being in love with Peeta, to save her and Peeta’s life. He threatens to kill Gale.
- Katniss realizes that she nearly didn’t have any private time, that she is always surrounded by the cameras of the capitol.
- She tries to sell that she and Peeta are still madly in love. She promises that she will make everybody on the tour thought the districts believe it.
After a while of talking he gets up and leaves and tells her that he knows about her and Gale.
