Catching Fire - Chapter 9 Summary


·      Katniss has fallen asleep holding Gale’s hand; Peeta wakes her up, he tells her to go to bed, he would watch Gale.
·      Katniss has a horrible nightmare, about being back in the arena.
·      A blizzard hits District 12; she hopes to find a way for them to run away.
·      After a while Katniss, realizes that she can’t run away anymore, she knows she has too keep on fighting.
·      She knows that she is the symbol of the revolution. The only problem is, that she isn’t a strong leader but Peeta would be a better one.
·      She doesn’t know how she feels about Gale but she knows that she has some kind of feelings about Gale.
·      After the blizzard has passed, Haymitch, Katniss and Peeta, meet in a safe place. Katniss tells them that she isn’t able to run away. Haymitch thinks she is insane, he tells her that she and Peeta should get married. Another important thing he tells Katniss is that it is impossible to fight the Capitol.
·      Katniss, Peeta, Haymitch and everybody notices that the new Head Peacekeeper – Thread – has changed district 12. Thread has placed arm guards everywhere around district 12. Katniss is convinced, they will have a lot less freedom than before.
·      The Hob has been set on fire and all of it inside burns with it (except the people).
·      Haymitch gets drunk again because, that is the way to process and solve every problem.
·      Peeta and Katniss visit Gale’s home, finding his mother there. She says nobody is using her service and business because, the people think they would get punished due to Gale’s actions.
·       Gale’s sister – Posy – has the measles.
·      The mines where Katniss’ father had worked and Gale have been shut down.
·      Katniss tries to help the people from the Hob but Peeta says there’s nothing she could do.
·      After a while things get worse in District 12.
·      There is no work for the people form District 12, which means they don’t have enough food.
·      Gale’s little brother – Rory – had to put his name in the bowl for the Hunger Games for tesserae.
·      Katniss finds a way of helping Gale’s family; she set Hazelle – Gale’s mother – as Haymitch’s housekeeper.
·      The freedom slowly fades away from the people of District 12.
·      Wedding dresses arrive from the Capitol for Katniss to try on.
·      At one point due to all the uprising, Katniss heads out into the woods ignoring the danger.
·      After she passed the perimeter, she notices a woman in a Peacekeeper Uniform. She pulls out an arrow, and nearly shots; before she can the woman shows her a Mockingjay sign imprinted on a piece of bread.
